What Do You Want?
Waoh, seems the year is on a race, 1st January with all the celebration and noise seem like a few days ago. It’s scary, but the truth is the year is coming to an end. My question for you is; What Do You Want?
What do you want from God?
What do you want of 2006?
What do you want from life?
It’s very easy to get and stay content once you start making some tens or hundreds of thousand every month. But you know what; There Is Still A Level Beyond Now.
The Bible says Jacob was exceedingly prosperous and had large flocks, female and male servants, and camels and donkeys (Gen 30:43). Without bothering you with the ‘goats, ewes and bulls’ details, on going to meet his brother, he prepared a present from his possessions that is enough to feed a large city.
But despite his wealth, he made a demand for more. The Bible says ‘And a man wrestled with Jacob until daybreak. The man said, "Let me go; it's daybreak." Jacob said, "I'm not letting you go 'til you bless me." The man said, "What's your name?" He answered, "Jacob." The man said, "But no longer. Your name is no longer Jacob. From now on it's Israel (God-Wrestler); you've wrestled with God and you've come through." And then, right then and there, he blessed him.
Considering Jacob’s past history of tricking his brother of his birthright and doing ‘wayo’ for his uncle cum-Father-in-law, one will think Jacob has had enough to last him a lifetime, but he still asked for more.
Jacob wanted more, he asked for more and he got more.
What will be your own story? What do you want from God, of 2006 and from life?
Despite whatever you have or wherever you are, there is still a level beyond you. 2006 is going faster than it is comfortable, have you made your demand from God? Be greedy, ask for more.
Ask God to 'bless you, enlarge your coast, increase your potentials, ‘strengthen, complete, perfect and make you what you ought to be and equip you with everything good that you may carry out His will; while He Himself works in you and accomplishes that which is pleasing in His sight, through Jesus Christ' (Hebs 13:21)
Ask for 2006 to favour you, for 2006 to be your year of doing things you have never done before, ‘for God to arise, and have mercy upon you: for the time to favour you, yea, your set time, is 2006 (Psm 102:13).’
Ask that in your life, ‘God takes such very good care of you, His friendship graces your home. Everything goes your way, and nothing seems too difficult. Everyone in town honours you and as you speak, everyone listens. People who know you speak well of you; your reputation going ahead of me. You would be known for helping people in trouble and the dying bless you. All your dealings with people will be good and you will be known for being fair to everyone you met. You will serve as eyes to the blind and feet to the lame, Father to the needy, and champion of abused strangers. You will die peacefully in your own bed, grateful for a long and full life. A life deep-rooted and well-watered, your soul suffused with glory and your body robust until the day you die.' Men and women listen when you speak, hanging expectantly on your every word. They welcome your counsel like spring rain, drinking it all in. When you smile at them, their faces lighten up, their troubles taking wing! You will be a Leader, establishing the mood and setting the pace by which others live. Where you lead, they follow’ (Job 29).
