1-Size
“If I have seen further than others,
It is by standing upon the shoulders of giants.”
- Isaac Newton, Mathematician and Physicist, "father of the modern science".
What is the real world? What You Make Of It!
In my experiences, I’ve discovered there’s no template for success in life. What worked for ‘A’ might and might not work for B. Just as fingerprints are not the same so ‘1-size does not always fit all’. Sometimes we devise ours, other times we improve on others’ inventions.
So what must we do to be saved? (Let me borrow the jailers’ quote in Acts 16:30)
1. Make a Demand on Life, and Demand Real High: You must always, constantly and consistently be making moves to improve the present ‘You’. The patient dog doesn't get to eat the fattest bones anymore, he gets to eat the leftovers. So make you moves!
2. Identify quality traits in others: Be quick to identify the top-shots and emulate them. There’s nothing wrong in copying other; Dare to be a copycat! If you can’t look good wearing a real Gucci bag, then look good wearing an imitation. The bottom-line is to Look Good! Work and mix with the people on top. Go the extra mile and dialogue with them, ask them for the ‘how’s’. Tap into their wealth of experience and procedures, jot these tips down and use it to design your own master plan. Remember what Newton said, he chooses to stand on the shoulders of giants and not dwarfs. Also remember; ‘he who walks with the wise.…’ (Prov 13:20)
3. Be customer-oriented/end-result oriented/driven: The secret of retaining your customers or crowd is giving them what they want and not just what you have to offer. That way, they will refer you, and also come back again with their families. How do you know what they want? Learn a lesson or two from the seemingly demanding ones. While they might seem too petty, you do yourself a lot of good by meeting their needs. Indeed, customers are kings!
4. Be open to changes: You do yourself no good by closing up to external knowledge. Be regardless of who is saying it or how it is being said. Instead, seek ‘what is in it for me….’ If Balaam had disregarded his ass, he would have been a dead, dead man! (Num 22: 22-34)
All these are Janmo’s view, and I tell you, ‘1-size does not always fit all’.
The ball is in your court, make your choice.
Love, Janmo!
