Keep At It.

I normally compose each mail in the morning, but I didn’t send any yesterday because nothing came to my mind. I also woke up this morning stuck again! I checked my notepad and Bible and it seemed there was nothing to write about again.

Sometimes we feel that way with life.

Stuck on the same job for years,…
Relationship/marriage might seem boring,…
The same symptoms keep occurring despite your confessions and you’re tempted to take it as part of your life,…
Your income seems to remain the same while expenses increases everyday,…
You just don’t know what to do!!!

But guess what I did?

I kept at it! Yes, I just kept at it. I opened a Word document and I started typing what was coming to my mind and how I was feeling (notice I used the term ‘was’ instead of ‘am feeling’). When it seems life is on hold, and everybody else is moving faster than you; JUST KEEP AT IT. I heard the testimony of a friend this morning and I’ll share it with everybody.

My friend left the University in 2001 and decided to volunteer in church. She did several things after that, but nothing that other envied her for. In fact, almost everybody was earning more than her, even people who left school years after she did. Two threads that I noticed woven through all the years are:
i. She kept at it. Never for once was she out of a ‘job’ in a sense because she always engaged herself with one thing or the other.
ii. She was diligent throughout. She had the most innovative ideas to give in meetings, followed it up with her creative designs and artworks, and always volunteered her house, laptop and other effects for community use. She was a reliable source and hand!

There was a time my friend was managing the family business and I tell you, she gave it her best shot! September 2005 she joined 1 of the leading banks in Nigeria, and today I heard she’s been promoted to being a Group Head!!! Just 5 months after she started the job. (Mind you, most banks only confirm after 6 months and I’ve never heard of such a mind-blowing promotion!) Now she’s on a level that several people who left school more than 5 years ago are not on. Why? Because she kept at it, and she was diligent.

When life seems at a stand still, give it your best shot! On that 1 spot, perfect your skills, improve your diligence level, manage your time and resources well, develop and mentor subordinates, Just Do Something! Remember:
1.He becomes poor that deals with a slack hand: but the hand of the diligent makes rich – Prov 10:4
2. He that diligently seeks good procures favour – Prov 11:27
3. The hand of the diligent shall bear rule: but the slothful shall be under tribute – Prov 12:24
4. The slothful man roasts not that which he took in hunting: but the substance of a diligent man is precious – Prov 24:27
5. The soul of the sluggard desireth, and hath nothing: but the soul of the diligent shall be made fat – Prov 13:4
6. The thoughts of the diligent tend only to plenteousness; but of every one that is hasty only to want – Prov 21:5
7. Seest thou a man diligent in his business? he shall stand before kings; he shall not stand before mean men – Prov 22:29
