Delays.

Nobody likes to be kept waiting, but delays are unavoidable. While you may have put your best into preparing for an event, sometimes, ‘shit happens’ (pardon my choice of phrase). A true test of your preparation will then be what you have remaining after the unavoidable has happened.

Remember the parable of the 10 Virgins? All 10 had all been trained and labelled ‘professionals’. But while 5 of them stuck to the books, the remaining 5 learnt beyond their books.

‘Then shall the kingdom of heaven be likened unto ten virgins, which took their lamps, and went forth to meet the bridegroom. And five of them were wise, and five were foolish. They that were foolish took their lamps, and took no oil with them: But the wise took oil in their vessels with their lamps.’ – Matt 25:1-4

As Christians, we read and learn from the Bible and Christian Literature, attend Church services, listen to anointed messages e.t.c All these are to prepare us for Christian Living, and also the return of Jesus.

Note, ‘While the bridegroom tarried, they all slumbered and slept –(Vs 5). That means there’s no crime in sleeping while the Bridegroom tarries. While Jesus tarries, the ball lies in your court, you can do some other things. But just before you hit your bed, my questions for you are:

'Have you made adequate preparation for the Bridegroom’s arrival?'
'What about the unavoidables? Do you have guaranteed sustainable ‘oil’ in case the Bridegroom delays?'
'Are you wise enough?'
'Have you prepared with the end in mind, or are you just taking 1-day at a time?'

I wouldn’t tell you to sow your seeds, pay your tithe or serve in church as they may end up being mere activities. My advice is

‘Pass your test for each and everyday, living with the end in mind, Take extra oil in your vessel, The Bridegroom might delay'.

For every step you take, today, tomorrow and next,
With every decision you make, socially, economically, financially or maritally, PLAN FOR DELAYS.

Love, Janmo!
